I first started photographing architecture at University, shooting suburban housing developments as part of a fine art photography project. These rather twee, prosaic subjects were perhaps an unusual starting point, but this was when I first began thinking about architecture as a subject.
I lived abroad for a while, and returning home, my eyes were opened to the richness of our built environment. It is easy to take for granted the way our history is written into the fabric of our cities and towns, but my experience had taught me that architecture can tell us stories about who we are.
I find every stage of the process of making architectural images greatly satisfying, arranging compositional elements to tell the story of a building or space, and communicating the designer’s vision to show their work in its best light.
